The Waterloo Region District School Board Facilities Services Department with funds generated through the energy conservation incentive rebate programs, as well as, MicroFIT revenues, as provided by the Ontario Power Authority, Union Gas Limited, Reliance Home Comfort, Kitchener Wilmot Hydro, Waterloo North Hydro and Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro, is proud to recognize the top five EcoSchools within the WRDSB for 2016;

  • Elgin Street Public School
  • Glenview Park Public School
  • John Darling Public School
  • New Dundee Public School
  • Sandhills Public School

Under this initiative, schools are awarded one prize item from a list of “EcoSchool Measures” for use by students and staff in recognition of the great accomplishment their schools have achieved.

This prize is to be located prominently within the school or school grounds and is intended to be permanent, low maintenance, energy/water efficient, and able to further promote sustainability principles with students and staff for years to come.

A sign or plaque is also provided as recognition of the accomplishment for the top five EcoSchools each year.

John Darling School has used the award to install a second hydration station at the east end of the junior wing, near the primary hallway. This station was installed during the Nov. 18th PA day and is being actively used throughout the day by both primary and junior students.

The EcoSchools program plays an extremely important role at the Waterloo Region District School Board. The educational impact it has on our student body with regard to energy conservation, the environment, waste management and school ground greening and the knowledge and experience that is gained, helps to make the Waterloo Region District School Board a better and greener place.

Thank you to the John Darling P.S. students, staff and parents for your on-going efforts in energy conservation.
