Thank You to Everyone…

For your help with showing our caring and generosity towards others in our community!Donations to our Food Drive and our Giving Tree were a huge success.  We were able to support our families in need along with some children at a neighbouring school.

 

School Council

Thank you to our school council members.  They have completed developing a detailed Guide Book for council members that will help us communicate our processes and protocols effectively.  The Fundraising committee has just completed a successful Poinsettia and Rheo Thompson Chocolate fundraiser in a very short amount of time.  We raised $1800 in profits, thanks to your support!  And, drop by the main hallway to view the great bulletin board display about all of the  wonderful work they do on our behalf.  School Council will be asking our families for help by responding to a survey about our direction with upcoming initiatives in the New Year, stay tuned!

Some Initiatives School Council supports:  Chess, 1 Free Bus/Class, $400 towards an Arts Performance

Student Safety

Thank you, to all those who continue to support us in following our safety procedures when attending the school.  Please be reminded on those occasions that you do need to come into the school, all visitors are required to sign in at the office directly.  Also, we ask that you have your child go home right after dismissal.  Supervision after school is brief and solely for the purpose of seeing students safely on their way home.

Please Note:  The ring road in front of A12 (our relocated Developmental Education classroom) is not for general student pick up or drop off.  It is used by the special education buses and by the Extended Day program.

LIBRARY NEWS

John Darling is registered with the Ontario Library Association to take part in the Silver Birch and Blue Spruce reading programs for 2015-2016.   The Silver Birch program will begin in January, giving participating students a chance to read quality Canadian literature.  Our primary students will take part in the Blue Spruce program by listening to ten recently published Canadian children’s picture books. These nominated stories are sure to become favourites among our students.
