Dear Parents,
Tomorrow is a P. D. Day. There is no school or Extended Day Program. Our staff will be engaged in professional development activities related to our School Improvement Plan and Health and Safety Training.
- School Council-We had 8 parents attend our first meeting this week. Elections for the Executive positions took place. Beth Skilling will be the Chairperson for the year and Sarah Brown will be our treasurer. You can attend October’s meeting, even if you missed the first meeting.
- Terry Fox Run-On Thursday September 27th our John Darling Dragons will be participating in the Terry Fox National School Run Day. As in previous years our goal is for students to bring in “Toonies for Terry”. If your family is interested in making a larger donation please visit our school fundraising page at terryfox.ca/JohnDarlingPSKitchener or by completing one of the paper pledge forms that will be sent home with your child. As a school we have set a goal of $1,500.
As a school we will be running laps on the field collecting stamps on our Terry Fox passports highlighting key spots on his Marathon of Hope. Please make sure your child is wearing running shoes and clothing in which they feel comfortable.
- Safety Drills-As a school we will be practicing 3 fire drills and 1 “lockdown” drill in the next few weeks.
