John Darling school has set another exciting Eco-schools’ goal for 2015/2016. We are ready to include Green Bin recycling to our efforts! We are encouraging students and staff to participate in our Boomerang Lunch Initiative!
A Boomerang lunch involves recycling our leftovers and packaging at home. Students would use reusable containers to store scraps, leftovers, and waste/packaging. They would then recycle these products in their blue and green bins at home.
Boomerang Lunches, would offer many advantages to students, their families, and the whole school.
- Students would have an opportunity to share helpful environmental habits with their families at home.
- Parents would see what their children are eating and how much.
- Food scraps would be added to the home Green Bin program where they can be composted.
- Our Green Team would have time to focus on new & engaging ec0-friendly learning opportunities beyond sorting recycling.
