The John Howard Society Waterloo Wellington is coming to run their antibullying presentation at John Darling early next year. Our school has agreed to participate in a research project that is designed to see how effective this program is at teaching students the skills they need to eliminate bullying. The results of this study will help to strengthen the program, making it an even more effective tool for schools in our region. The head researcher on this project is Rebecca Pister, a doctoral student at Laurier with an extensive background in bullying prevention. She has partnered with the John Howard Society and the public school board to take on this research as her dissertation project.

The project will focus on students in Grades 3 and 6.  A consent form will be coming home for parents/guardians to sign allowing your child to participate in the pre and post program surveys. These surveys will capture students’ understandings and attitudes before and after the bullying prevention series.  Please be sure to sign it and return it to the school as soon as possible.  For further information, Rebecca can be reached for questions at HYPERLINK “mailto:pist0870@mylaurier.ca”pist0870@mylaurier.ca__
